Forever Friends?

  • by Mark Napier

  • The days of old are golden
Lost in a haze of smiles and such
Memories that with each day grow olden
A bouquet of experiences all in a bunch

You were always there, always shared
Moments locked in time for us both
Always there for me, always cared
Forever a friendship that I chose

But the days of old are gone
    And today replaces yesterday
Time crowds in and pushes me along
    And even friendship goes away

    Sometimes I miss my friend
And think back with a sigh
And now I know he was just pretend
And with this knowledge my innocence died

    We were forever friends
    Till time moved us apart
And shown a growing man in the end
The loss of make believe is just the start....
