Does the Bible have the answers??

There seems to be this thing in today's society about the
bible being the answer. Plain and simple, it is the answer
to all of life's questions. I hear this time and time again
from the believers. It never fails. They taut the bible
this and the bible that. God wants, Jesus says.. It gets
old. But the real question is this gentle reader, DOES THE
BIBLE HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS? Lets look shall we? We shall
take a peak into the lives of a few people, and see how
the bible shapes their world.

The Plight of Nancy.
Nancy is smart, and very very intelligent. She has a full scholarship
to the college of dreams, Harvard. She will will study medicine
there, and become a Doctor. A life long dream. David, Nancy's
boyfriend/fiancee, wants to settle down, and have a family.
His dream is to be a father. They talk about this for many nights,
without a solution. Both are very faithful Christians, and seeing
as they cannot reach an agreement themselves, they turn to god
and the bible. David shows her the following verse:
1 Timothy 2:11-13
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over
the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
The lord has spoken, and settled the matter for them. Praise
god! Nancy will now live her quiet life, and never be the Doctor
she could very well become. She will serve the lord, and be a good
submissive wife for her husband. The bible has the answer.
- The Day Jerry Stood Still
Jerry is an athlete. Well liked, captain of the football team,
all around great guy. The girls love him to death. He could have
anyone of them. He knows this. They know it.
But Jerry has a secret. A dirty secret, a naughty secret. Jerry
is in love with Mike. He has been for years. He is not really attracted
to any of the girls in school. Jerry is gay. One night, Jerry told
Mike his feelings. Mike was shocked at first, as you could imagine.
Mike took Jerry to bed with him that night.
The guilt feelings that came with their night of passion ate
away at Jerry. Jerry was a Christian, and he turned to god for forgiveness,
and advice, in the bible. God showed him the following verse:
Leviticus 20:13
13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman,
both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be
put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
God has spoken, and Jerry deserves to die for his love of Mike.
In a fit of despair, he kills himself, leaving nothing behind to
hurt Mike in any way. The bible has the answer.
Jill was a pretty young lady. She had her life in front of
her, and was happy. She was a Christian and a virgin. At the urging
of her friend, she went to a party at the college campus. They were
having a ball, and Jill drank a little. She was feeling a bit tipsy
when Jason talked to her. Jason was the lacrosse Captain, and all
around great guy.
Jill was flabbergasted that he was talking to her!! She went
up stairs with Jason after a few minutes to one of the rooms, and
one thing led to another, and Jason started to undress her. Jill
tried to say no, but Jason did not hear it. After he forced her
to have sex, he told her no one would believe her if she told anyone.
Jill was silent. She was afraid of what people would say about her
if she did tell.
Jill's life is now a wreck. Where can she go? Who can help her
now? In desperation, she turns to the bible. God shows her this
verse:
Deuteronomy 22:23-24
23 If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband,
and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
24 Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city,
and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because
she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled
his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
Now she must die. After crying and writing her mother and father
good-bye, holding her bible, she takes pills. The bible has the
answer.

Jeff is going to be a priest. He loves god, and Jesus with
all his heart. He thinks about nothing but becoming closer to god,
and doing the work of the lord. There is nothing he would not do
if god asked him to do it.
His next door neighbor is Holly. Holly dresses in black, and
wears a pentagram necklace. She paints her face white, and her nails
black. She never goes out in the day, and seems to be very with
drawn. Jeff talks to her one day, and talks about god. Holly declines
the conversation, and Jeff asks her why. She tells Jeff she is a
witch, and does not believe in one god. Jeff is floored. He tries
to witness to her for days.
After a week of fasting for the lord, he asks god again what
he should do about Holly. God shows him this verse:
Exodus 22:18
18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Jeff goes over to Holly's and kills her. God will is done. Jeff
cannot understand why he would be in trouble with the law. The bible
has the answer.
The Answers?
I think you know by now that these stories above
are not true, but used as analogies to show you gentle reader that
bible does not have the answers. I know it will be claimed we are
no longer under the Old Testament Laws, and that Jesus freed us
from them through his sacrifice. But we only need to read the bible
and see he did not free us from anything. Matthew 5:17-18. I would
implore you gentle reader not to use the bible as a guide post for
your life, and the decisions you make as you live. But use reason
and logic to guide you,and your mind. Not gods mind. Never take
the claims of another to be valid without investigating them yourself.
Including god and the bible.
